Circumstances of Death
Prohibition Agent Remus Buckner was fatally wounded while participating in a still raid near Springville, Blount County, AL. Prior to the raid, eight suspects had been observed working at the still and the agents split up, knowing the suspects would all run once the raid began. One suspect had apparently concealed himself and shot Agent Buckner as he passed by his location. Agent Buckner was rushed to the hospital, and died two days later.

Agent Buckner joined the Prohibition Unit on November 15, 1921, with an annual salary of $1,500.
