Prohibition Agent Oscar Carl Hanson and Deputy U.S. Marshal Edward F. Flannary were riding in a Government vehicle when they were struck by a train at a railroad crossing in Humboldt, SD. Both men were killed instantly. Weather, snow and sleet, was considered a major factor leading up to this accident.
