Circumstances of Death
Prohibition Agent George Dykeman, along with other agents made a large seizure of illicit beer and arrested three suspects at a warehouse in West New York, NJ. During the arrest, one of the suspects broke free and ran away with Agent Dykeman in pursuit. As they ran through an alley, Agent Dykeman drew his revolver, but almost immediately fell on the slippery ice. His gun accidentally discharged, with the bullet striking him in the chest. Agent Dykeman was immediately rushed to North Hudson Hospital, where he died shortly after his arrival.
