Circumstances of Death
Prohibition Agent Daniel Cleveland and local officers were returning to a still they had previously seized to destroy it. As they approached, the Pickett brothers were lying in ambush and shot and killed Agent Cleveland. The local sheriff returned fire, wounding one of the brothers. The Pickett brothers were taken into custody and later tried and convicted of Agent Cleveland's murder.
